To build a drink is to add ice and then spirits and mixers.

Chasers

Consumed after a shot of hard liquor.

An hour-glass shaped measuring device where one side measures 1 ounce and the other measures 1½ ounces. They may also come in various sizes.

Neat

No ice.

On the rocks

The liquor is poured over ice.

Sour

A short drink consisting of liquor, lemon/lime juice and sugar.
