This course introduces the world of tobacco laws and regulation. Throughout this course, United States federal laws concerning the sale of tobacco and tobacco-related products will be discussed.

In the United States, the "Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act," also known as the "Tobacco Control Act," governs the ways in which tobacco products may be sold and distributed to consumers. This course-and the Tobacco Control Act-focuses primarily on keeping tobacco and tobacco-related products out of the hands of children (by law, defined as anyone under the age of 18 years old). These restrictions involve numerous regulatory and advertising standards, as well as strict laws regarding the advertising and promotion of cigarettes and other tobacco-containing products.

This course also explains the significant health risks to smokers and others who use tobacco products, and seeks to minimize the damage done to the youngest generations by helping them choose to avoid becoming smokers or tobacco users.

New York Alcohol Training

If you live in New York City, love meeting people from all walks of life, and have a keen interest on entering the food and beverage industry, then bartending may just be the right job for you! Find gainful employment in the greatest city in the world by enrolling in Learn2Serve’s New York Alcohol training program!

Learn2Serve’s alcohol seller and server training programs are offered by the Empire State Restaurant and Tavern Association, an approved provider by the New York State Liquor Authority. The certification obtained from this program will serve as the student’s proof of training for the state’s requirements for completing an alcohol training awareness program (ATAP).

The New York State Liquor Authority considers alcohol training a factor in lightening one’s penalty for liquor law violations if the person who incurs the violation currently holds a valid certificate of completing an NYSLA-approved ATAP for license acquisition or renewal.

Learn2Serve’s alcohol training takes three to four hours to complete although you don’t have to complete it at one go. The training is self-paced, which only means that you can login on your account, take your course, stop at anytime and resume where you left off. Students have to obtain a 70 percent score in order to get their New York alcohol certification.

Students have to be 18 years old and older to be able to sell and serve alcohol in the state of New York. For further information on New York liquor laws, visit http://www.abc.state.ny.us.

How to Get a Bartender’s License in New York?

You must be 21-years old or older to apply for a New York bartending license and will need to take the On-Premise ATAP training course. If you work at an off-premise business, you will then have to complete the equivalent off-premise responsible serving ATAP course. The training program is online and is accompanied with the NYSLA-Approved exam. Upon completion, you will receive a printable certificate that is valid for 3 years.

State Requirements

The New York State Liquor Authority will consider training a mitigating factor if, at the time of violation, the person who committed violation held a valid certificate of completion or renewal from a certified alcohol training awareness program provider and the licensee diligently implemented and complied with training program.

Learn2Serve’s Alcohol Seller/Server On & Off Training is approved through the Empire State Restaurant and Tavern Association and will serve as a valid training certificate for the awareness program.
