Use bleach to sanitize
A simple bleach mixture can work as an excellent and budget-friendly sanitizer that will instantly kill bacteria on cutting boards, sinks, or countertops. Just add one teaspoon of a dilute bleach solution to a quart of water and you’re good to go.
Maintain fridges and freezers
The fridge and freezer usually only need a monthly cleaning and require nothing but a damp cloth for its surface. Also, only defrost and clean shelves when necessary.
Regularly clean stainless steel
The deposits left on stainless steel can cause corrosion, which is why it’s best practice to clean tableware after each use. Be careful using or completely avoid using abrasive cleaning products which can destroy the film that enhances your tableware’s resistance to rust and stains.
Create an ammonia cleaner
By mixing one tablespoon of ammonia, one tablespoon of liquid detergent, and two cups of water, you can create an all-purpose cleaner. It can even replace costly, aerosol oven cleaners.
Use Baking soda as a multi-purpose cleaner
Just a couple of tablespoons of baking soda and a single quart of warm water will do the trick. You can use this mild alkali solution to cleanse the inside of the microwave, an oven, fridge, turbo broiler, and other small appliances.
Use vinegar to clean surfaces
You can use a mixture of vinegar (and lemon) and water to clean your coffee pots, dishes, and other small kitchen tools. The solution will leave your equipment with a fresh sparkle and odor-free. Additionally, the mixture can also be used to clean dirt on your floors and windows.
Clean pans with dryer
A dryer sheet can be used on the surface of most pans to clean off tough grease. Do this before filling the pan with warm water. The dryer sheet absorbs stains for a faster and quicker clean.
Clean the dishwasher efficiently
Apply a multipurpose cleaner to the dishwasher interior, including door seals. You can scrub the rest of the equipment using a non-abrasive sponge, then use a damp cloth to dry. Hint, the dishwasher must reach a temperature of about 82 degrees Celsius to eliminate the majority of most bacteria.
Keep things organized
A well-organized kitchen is always easier to clean and maintain. Kitchenware and all food items should be properly stored at the recommended temperatures. Always label every cleaning product and keep them away from the work area.
Clean your floors last
Cleaning your floors is the last thing you should do. This will prevent doubling your efforts since the debris that fall from surfaces, ceilings, and walls will only make the surface messy again.
