Learn2Serve Vermont Alcohol Server Certification Courses

As a liquor-controlled state, Vermont strictly enforces alcohol laws relating to the sales and manufacture of alcohol. The governing alcoholic beverage authority, the Vermont Department of Liquor Control, requires stakeholders to obtain the necessary training and education for consumers, alcohol sellers and servers, managers and convenience store owners and operators for the responsible and safe sales and service of alcohol.

Per Chapter 9, Title 7 of Vermont Statutes, licensees must ensure that employees who sell and serve alcohol have completed a department-approved alcoholic beverage training program prior to employment. This certification must be renewed every two years.

The statute also requires employers to keep records of their employee training. It also allows licensees to conduct an in-house alcohol training program for workers, using the curriculum and materials provided by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control. Licensees who fail to satisfy the requirements of the said statute will be subject to license suspension.
